Fire has razed down 4 four bed room house in Asanso, a suburb of Bekwai in the Ashanti Region.
An eyewitness speaking to ASP Sampene of Dess fm, she saw the fire on the roof but can’t tell source of the raised fire. She quickly called Bekwai fire station and told that, their fire tender is at fault so they sent it has been sent to maintenance. It took Fomena Fire Service firefighters 1hr to arrived the scene and doused the fire.
However, speaking to the Bekwai Divisional Fire Commander DO3 Mr. Asamoah, he said his outfit cannot readily tell the cause of the fire, but will be known after investigation.
Speaking to the land Lady (victim) ,Maame Adwoa, she said, there was power outages in the morning, so she had to switched off all sockets before going to work, so she doesn’t know if that was the cause or what? But suspect the power outages. The victim said, their future hangs in the balance as their monies and properties have been lost in the inferno.
The fire started around 1:30pm on Friday destroyed properties worth Ghc40,000 and others. Although, no casualties was recorded.
Speaking to the Assembly Member of Asanso Electoral Area Hon.Asare Baffour, someone called him that there’s a fire outbreak in his electoral area, so he quickly called Bekwai fire station but was told that their fire tunder is at maintenance and directed the call to Fomena Fire Station, its very unfortunate therefore calls on government to aid the victims, he said.
