A/R: Floods Destroy Property At Bantama Bewail

Urban flooding has become a major problem in many parts of the country due to its social economic and environmental impact.

 

In some parts of Ashanti region,flood seems to occurs every year,which adversely affects livelihoods, property, infrastructure,lives and renders many people homeless.

 

Tremendous rain which began early morning on Friday June 4,2021 has flood some parts of bantama in the Ashanti region

Speaking to MyGhanaMedia.com community watch reporter ,traders at bantama market are wailing bitterly over flood and are calling on citi authorities to as matter of urgent come to their aid.

 

“This flood persistently after us in this market anytime it rains and we do not know what is really causing it.
We are afraid at this time of rainy reason if nothing is done about this menace.they stressed; Some also attributed it to the fact that,most of the gutters in bantama constituency has choked with Filth and is very worrying situation.

Peoples deliberately throw garbages into the gutters which normally block the free flow of the water.

 

At least 12 children died in flooding incidents in the Ashanti region last year.Many of the children drowned while making their way to or from school during periods of heavy rain.

At the time disaster officials said a better understanding of the dangers of floods is required.
