The Atwima Mponua New Patriotic Party (NPP) has swiftly denied allegations of extortion levelled against Hon. Isaac Kofi Marfo, District Chief Executive for Atwima Mponua, and Hon. Seth Osei-Akoto, NPP’s Parliamentary Candidate.
Allegation
The report claims that the duo demanded GH50.00 from Afepaye community members to fuel government-supplied DRIP equipment for road maintenance.
MyGhanaMedia.com understands that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Atwima Mponua constituency’s secretary, Issahak Ibrahim, and parliamentary candidate, Hon. Stephen Yeboah, signed the press release containing these allegations.
The NDC officials say in the statement that when they visited the community for the campaign, the Abusuapain of Afepaye and the residents bemoaned the occurrence.
The District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) program was designed by the NPP government led by Akufo-Addo and Bawumia to address the pressing need for road maintenance and construction equipment in MMDAs, fostering sustainable improvements that will enhance connectivity and spur economic growth.
The government has committed to funding the equipment’s fuel, and the authority is not required to collect contributions from any community members in order to use the equipment to repair or construct local roads.
Reaction
However, the Atwima Mponua NPP has dismissed these claims as baseless and a deliberate attempt to deceive the public.
In a press statement signed by Mr Albert K. Asiedu, Communications Director for Atwima Mponua NPP, he attributed the misinformation to the NDC’s desire to manipulate voters for political gain ahead of the elections.
According to him, these allegations are not only false but also a desperate attempt by the NDC to tarnish the DCE, PC, and NPP party’s reputation.
“The NPP, DCE and Honourable Seth Osei-Akoto would never endorse or participate in exploitative practices. At no point has Honourable Seth Osei-Akoto, nor any other NPP representative, solicited money from individuals or communities for fuel or any other project-related expense. Our commitment is to serve, not to impose undue burdens on the people of Atwima Mponua”.
He urges the public to disregard this malicious propaganda and focus on the constituency development agenda of the NPP party.
Denial
Additionally, the Afepaye Abusuapain, Agya Koo, whose contact was included in the NDC press release accusing DCE and the NPP PC of extortion, has distanced himself from the event and vowed legal action against those who linked his contact details to the issue.
“I know nothing about that press statement, I’m shocked and disappointed that my contact information was used without my consent. I demand a retraction and will take legal action against those responsible for this mischief.”

REBUTTAL OF ALLEGATIONS BY ATWIMA MPONUA OPPOSITION NDC REGARDING ROAD REHABILITATION PROJECT AT AFEPAYE.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) wishes to address recent baseless claims circulated by the opposition party’s constituency secretary. The allegations insinuate that Honourable Seth Osei-Akoto is extorting funds from local communities under the guise of fuelling the government-supplied DRIP equipment used for road maintenance. These claims are not only unfounded but a deliberate attempt to mislead the good people of Atwima Mponua.
Setting the Records Straight;
1. Community-Centered Development; Honourable Seth Osei-Akoto and the NPP remain committed to uplifting the Atwima Mponua Constituency, evident in the ongoing road rehabilitation efforts. Contrary to the opposition’s claims, the government has allocated adequate resources, including fuel, to support the work being done by the DRIP equipment. The NPP has always prioritized sustainable development in the constituency, with transparency and accountability at the heart of our efforts.
2. The NPP, DCE and Honourable Seth Osei-Akoto would never endorse or participate in exploitative practices. At no point has Honourable Seth Osei-Akoto, nor any other NPP representative, solicited money from individuals or communities for fuel or any other project-related expense. Our commitment is to serve, not to impose undue burdens on the people of Atwima Mponua.
3. Opposition Disruption and Misrepresentation;
It is regrettable that certain opposition factions have resorted to fabrications and even attempts to disrupt the progress of these projects. We recall the September 9th incident at the Nyinahin D/A School Park, where opposition members sought to interfere with the outdooring of the DRIP equipment, a move that was thwarted by party supporters. Despite these disruptions, we are resolute in delivering results for the people.
4. NDC’s Track Record of Neglect under Hon. Stephen Yeboah, the people of Atwima Mponua witnessed negligence, including the removal of essential resources like the constituency’s sole fire tender, which was taken to Obuasi due to a lack of basic maintenance and support from the then District Chief Executive and now Parliamentary candidate of the NDC, Honourable Stephen Yeboah. Such negligence and unfulfilled promises have spurred the people to embrace the NPP’s vision of reliable, people-centred governance.
Our Vision for Atwima Mponua;
The New Patriotic Party, under Honourable Seth Osei-Akoto’s leadership, pledges to continue delivering impactful infrastructure, economic growth, and job creation. The NPP has always acted with integrity and in the best interest of the people, and the baseless accusations by the opposition do not reflect the reality of our work and progress.
In the lead-up to the December 7th election, we encourage all residents of Atwima Mponua to discern the truth from mere political ploys. We remain focused on the task at hand; transforming Atwima Mponua for a prosperous future.
In Conclusion;
The NPP urges our opponents to adopt constructive approaches, focusing on improving the lives of their constituents rather than on baseless accusations which exudes negative energies. We assure the people of Atwima Mponua of our unwavering commitment to service, integrity, and transparency which seek to put Mponuaman on the radar of immense developments like Agenda 111 hospital project, Magistrate court, New District Assembly Block, New NHIS Block, A new Cocobod Quality Control Office, A new Cocobod SHED Office, A No. 1 Storey 12 classroom Block at Nyinahin, Police Stations at Mpasatia, Sreso Tinpom and Bayerebon No.5, and the only Nursing and Midwifery College in all the Atwima districts is located at Tanodumase also in Mponua. In addition, the tarring of over 100km of the road at Kwanfifi – Akonkye, Aniamoa- Ntobroso, Nyinahin town roads, Mpasatia to Bedabour and Nyinahin to Forest Nkwanta,off – Sreso Tinpom
road.
The people of Mponua believe in the genuineness of His Excellency Dr. Alhaji Mahamadu Bawumia and Honourable Seth Osei-Akoto who are number 1 on the ballot and will vote for them massively to bring glory to Mponua.
God Bless Atwima Mponua.
God Bless Ghana.
God Bless the NPP..
