The Management of Akyem Aboabo based radio station, Ahenkan Fm and Ahenkanfmonline.com (Odi Media Network) in the Eastern region and London based Ghanaian Mrs.Vera Ryan popularly known as BBC, have made a generous donation of 15 dual desks to Akyem Ayeboafo Basic Schools in the Akyemansa district to enhance teaching and learning in the area.

The donation became necessary when pupils of the school were seen either sitting on blocks or lying on the floor to study and write notes, a situation teachers said affected their academic performance.

The team led by the General Manager of the station, Mr. Benjamin Acheampong on behalf of the chief executive officer of Odi Media Network, Mr Bright Odi-Ahenkan Kwame Yeboah.

At a short ceremony to hand over the furniture to the school, Mr.Acheampong said the donation was in response to numerous calls made by the school authorities to help improve education in the Akyem Ayeboafo community.

The donation, according to the General Manager, was their (Ahenkan FM) widow’s mite to help alleviate the financial burden of parents and guardians as far as corporate social responsibility is concerned and added that “it is also to make the students feel comfortable and learn.”

Mr. Acheampong Speaking to Ahenkan FM and Ahenkanfmonline reporter, Kwaku Anin-Kusi Boadum stated that, education is the best tool to help bridge the gap between the rich and the marginalized, hence his commitment to provide the needed support to the constituents to help reach their full potential in education.

He underscored the need for all stakeholders to support in providing logistics in schools across the country.

The donation, he said is timely as some students in the district has to sit on the floor to learn.

The staff of the school thanked the management of Odi Media Network for the kind gesture shown and promised to make judicious use of both the desks and the books.

The students who were present were full of joy and expressed gratitude to the management of Odi Media Network by singing his praises amidst dancing.
