Akufo-Addo Heaps Praises On Hon Isaac Asiamah On Record Set During His Tenure As Sports Minister

President Akufo-Addo has mounted praises on the member of parliament for Atwima Mponua who was also the Minister of Youth and  Sports Hon. Isaac Kwame  Asiamah for his hard work and his enormous contribution in bringing the 13th African games to the shores of Ghana.

The President made this statement during a sod-cutting for the construction of sports complex at Borteyman in Accra.

 

“The cutting of the sod is the commencement of construction of state of the art sporting facility to host and organize the 13th African games in 2023. I must congratulate the former minister of youth and sports, under the leadership of Hon. Isaac Asiamah and his able team for the excellent work done in bringing this tournament to our shores. This is the first time in our Nation’s history to host the all African games”. He stated.

The Complex will be fitted with a 1,000 seater competition swimming pool, that is a 10-lane competition swimming pool; an 8-lane warm-up swimming pool; a 1,000 seater multi-purpose sports hall for basketball, badminton, boxing, table tennis and weightlifting; and a 500 seater temporary dome for handball, volleyball, judo, karate and taekwondo.

 

 

 

 

The rest are a five tennis court complex, including a 1000 seater centre court; a 6-lane warm-up athletics track; one FIFA standard football training field; and a 6-kilometre single lane road, and a 3-kilometre double lane road.

Speaking at the ceremony on Tuesday at Borteyman, President Akufo-Addo stated that, since the inception of the African Games in 1965, Ghana has never won a bid to host the games.
