Akyem Dome Manhene To Gov’t : Make Agriculture Attractive To Reduce Unemployment In The Country

The Omanhene of Akyem-Dome in the Fanteakwa South District of the Eastern Region, Osaberimah Amoako Affum II has urged the government to make agriculture attractive So to entice the youth into agriculture which will help mitigate the increasingly unemployment rate in the country.

 

He argued that, since agriculture is the backbone of every Country, investing in agriculture in more modernized way will Surely ensure the involvement of the youth in Agriculture, which would be an increased hope for a more prosperous agriculture gains in the future.

 

 

Barimah Amoako Affum II was addressing the media after designating hundred archer of land in Akyem Dome for the plantation of palm-trees and other crops by the Youth who have seen the importance of farming and it’s impact on the economy.

He further stressed that,every developing country that sees the agriculture as the engine of growth do so in reviving the agricultural sector and which will boost the local economy and also help reduce the growing unemployment rate in the country.

According to Barima Amoako the success chalked by most Western countries in combating famine is a result of efforts in agriculture to ensure food security and sufficiency.

Such global height of combating famine and reducing unemployment rate would not be achieved without the participation of the Youth in agriculture”

Barima Amoako who is also a Farmer indicated that the future belongs to the Youth and must be encouraged to venture into agriculture now for the future.

“Agriculture is the backbone of every local economy, due to this, governments should invest in the agricultural sector to boost the economy.” He added

 

Osaberima Amoako Affum II called on Government and the Agric minister to design policies that will make the sector attractive to the youth to venture into agricbussiness.

 

He stressed that this move, when embarked on will create sustainable employment for many Ghanaians, especially the youth and will help reduce the rising unemployment in the country.

Obarima Amoako Affum made the appeal in a press briefing ahead of the 37th National Farmers Day celebration which will be in the Cape Coast.
