The chief of Adusa has summoned one Afrifa Ofosu Hayfird for spreading false information on the construction of the Akyem Swedru to Apoli-Ningo route in the Birim South district of the Eastern region.

FAKE PROPAGANDA

According to Mr. Afrifa Ofosu, in a tape, Hon. Kennedy Nyarko Osei, the member of parliament for the Akyem Swedru constituency, has notified Osaberima Abrakwah Gyampem, the chief of Adusa, that the contractor for the 30.1-kilometer feeder roads project has departed the site.

He asserts that the MP disclosed this to the chief and his elders at a meeting held in Adusa and provided a justification that the project’s contractor (Soo Good Engineering and Construction Ltd.) is not performing well in terms of the road project, so they must award the project to a different contractor.

In the recording, Mr. Afrifa Ofosu further asserts that the GH 180,000 that the finance ministry paid to some members of parliament was only intended for reshaping the roads, as it is impossible to construct a road with that kind of money.

He consequently persuaded the residents not to believe their MP since he was misleading them.

“The contractor, who is good, they said, and who will finish the project in 24 months, has packed up all of his equipment and departed the site, and we should all be vigilant about the MP’s and his supporters’ propaganda”, Mr. Afrifa, quoted by Daily Searchlight/MyGhanaMedia.com,

REJOINDER

Meanwhile, the member of parliament for the Akyem Swedru constituency, Hon. Kennedy Nyarko Osei, has refuted accusations that he notified the chief of Adusa that the road project has been suspended.

He stated that even though he had a meeting with the chief and his elders to talk about the funeral ceremonies for their late queen-mother, they did not talk about the road project.

“I haven’t gone to Nana to discuss anything like that with him; the last time I went there, we only discussed the funeral rights of his late queen-mother”, the MP said.

The chief of Adusa, Osaberima Abrakwah Gyampem, has additionally denied Mr. Afrifa’s claims that he met with the MP about the project.

The chief asserts that he believes the political rivals are responsible for this false advertising, which is very detrimental to the advancement of the country.

In a radio interview with Obuoba Ofori Amanfo, the host of the morning show (Maakye) on Ahenkan FM, Osaberima Abrakwah Gyampem said that he has summoned the accuser (Mr. Afrifa Ofosu) to appear before him in order to explain why he is doing that.

PROJECT CONTRACTOR

The Managing Director of So Good Engineering and Construction Limited, Mr. Frank Adutwum, has also rubbished claims that road construction has halted.

He says that he remains active on the project and that work is still being undertaken.

It was made clear by Mr. Frank Adutwum that So Good Engineering and Construction Limited is still in charge of the project.

Therefore, he asked the citizens not to believe any misleading propaganda.

UPDATES

On Tuesday, October 10, 2023, Mr. Afrifa Ofosu appeared before Nananom but was unable to support his claims with evidence thus he begged for mercy.

As a result of his plea, Nananom consented to pardon him and was also given a warning not to spread such false information about the project, or he would be punished.
