Part Of N8 Road Under Construction Caves In At Assin Endwa; Commuters Stranded [Photos]

Part of the N8 road which is under construction, has caved in at Assin Endwa, leaving commuters stranded.

The N8 road is a 31.2 kilometer road, stretching from Assin Foso to Assin Praso and was awarded to a Japanese company, SDJV Construction Limited.

The road serves as a link between Assin Fosu and Kumasi, and it is expected to be completed in 2022.

Residents attributed the situation to a shoddy work of the constructed culvert, which could not stand the pressure of the river as a result of torrential downpour on Friday.

Stranded commuters say the situation will affect their business.

They have thus called on authorities to as a matter of urgency find a solution to the problem.

One of the commuters said, “We were traveling from Takoradi to Sunyani. We got here around 10:30 pm last night, and we saw the bridge has collapsed. Authorities should do something about it.”

Another commuter also said, “I’m from Kasoa, traveling to New Edubiasi. When I got here, I saw the bridge has collapsed. Those going to Praso cannot go, likewise those going to Accra.”
