Young leaders have been advised to consider their positions as a yardstick to leverage opportunities associated with their leadership roles to change the narrative of vulnerables in their various communities.
This assertion was made by Mr. Samuel Osei Sarkodie (SOS), the New Juaben North constituency NPP youth organizer, during an Orientation and Leadership Summit for SRC executives on Friday, 7th March 2025.
Addressing the SRC executives, Mr. Osei Sarkodie emphasized that true leadership is not about titles or prestige but about making a positive impact in the future to effect changes in communities.
SOS defined leadership as “an opportunity to serve and help people” and thus challenged the SRC executives to be agents of change.
The Summit, themed “Student Leadership: From Good to Great Strategies for Exceptional Performance,” was organized by the Eastern and Greater Accra branch of the Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana at SDA College of Education in Koforidua of the Eastern Region.
The summit brought together financial experts, principals from selected colleges of education, and SRC executives from nine member colleges in Eastern and Greater Accra regions.
The event aimed to equip tertiary leaders with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their future endeavors.
Participants engaged in interactive sessions, question and answer periods, and networking opportunities.
Mr. Samuel Osei Sarkodie ueged the executives to use their positions wisely by building connections with influential personalities to secure fortunes such as job opportunities after school.
Sharing his personal experience, the NPP constituency youth organizer recounted how he secured employment at Joy Industries due to his unique service and strong connections with the company’s CEO during his tertiary education.
To achieve similar goals, the constituency organizer encouraged young leaders to focus on making a meaningful difference with their positions rather than seeking power or recognition while in school.
Mr. Samuel Osei Sarkodie mentored the tertiary executives on thinking outside the box regarding fund generation and the importance of ensuring financial discipline.
The conference concluded with a call to action, urging young leaders to reevaluate their approach to leadership and strive to make a lasting impact in their various fields.
