The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has launched a national community outreach program to bring its services closer to citizens. This initiative aims to reduce the burden of traveling long distances to access DVLA services, such as obtaining or renewing driver’s licenses.
The program, launched on April 24, 2025, at the Neoplan Station (Kwame Nkrumah Circle) in Accra, features a mobile van that will travel to various locations, including rural areas, to provide services. This innovative approach is designed to increase accessibility, reduce bureaucracy, and generate income for the country.
According to Lawyer Forster Akwasi Asante, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of DVLA in charge of Administration and Services, the outreach program will enable citizens to access services such as license renewal, replacement, and new license issuance, as well as education on citizen compliance and laws.
“People always find it difficult to walk to DVLA outlets to either renew their licenses, replace them, obtain new license, convert of new foreign driver license, or upgrading, due to long distance and bureaucracies”.
He noted that, DVLA now devise innovative means to move with a van of officers close to the customers, even in inter-lands in all the regions to render valid driver licenses, and also to educate them about citizen compliance and laws.

The DVLA encourages corporate institutions and organizations to take advantage of this service by arranging for the mobile van to visit their premises, making it easier for members to access the services without having to take time off work.
This initiative is expected to continue annually, bringing benefits to both the country and its citizens. By providing accessible services, the DVLA aims to increase productivity, reduce stress, and eliminate opportunities for unscrupulous individuals to exploit citizens.
