The paramount chief of the Dormaa traditional area and the President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs, Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Dr. Nana Freduah Agyemang Badu II, has publicly commended President John Dramani Mahama for his astute observation on the recent appreciation of the Ghanaian cedi.
Dormaahene praised Mahama’s insight into economic matters, acknowledging the cedi’s swift recovery following the decline of the US dollar.
Dr. Agyeman Badu II expressed his admiration for Mahama’s economic acumen and urged him to maintain the strength of the cedi, aiming for a stable exchange rate of at least one dollar to eight cedis.
He encouraged Mahama to ignore critics in the Ghanaian diaspora lamenting the cedi appreciation and focus on reducing inflation and stabilizing the local currency, a move that would greatly benefit Ghanaians.
“I’ll carry Mahama on my back and run a full kilometer for free if the dollar ever drops to 8 cedis”, he added.
He was speaking at a gathering of chiefs, party members, and residents in Sunyani during President Mahama’s tour in the Bono Region on Friday.

President Mahama, on his part, revealed plans to establish a cashew processing factory in the Bono Region.
The factory, according to the President, would provide a research centre, a ready market for farmers, and boost the country’s industrial sector.
Mahama explained that the factory would also serve the export market and be part of a broader initiative to develop the cashew industry.
He said that the NDC’s People’s Manifesto, a Cashew Development Board would be established to oversee the sector’s development, regulate cashew prices, and improve research to ensure farmers receive fair prices for their produce.
The President said the proposed board would play a crucial role in addressing the challenges faced by cashew farmers, including low producer prices.
He said that by supporting farmers and improving the cashew industry, Mahama aims to increase earnings for farmers and contribute to the country’s economic growth.
