Fake Medical Doctor Arrested In Kasoa For Fraud, Romance Scams And Impersonation

A young person who has been impersonating a medical doctor and defrauding individuals by promising fake international travel opportunities in the Kasoa area has been arrested by the police.

The police in a statement named the suspect as Fredrick Papa Kow-Assifuah.

 

 

 

 

He was arrested by personnel of the Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) Headquarters on Thursday, June 6, 2025, at Kasoa Crispo City, in the Central Region..

At the time of the arrest, he was found wearing a white lab coat and a stethoscope and was planning to meet another victim.

 

 

 

 

 

The police in a press statement said medical items, including two stethoscopes, three intravenous (IV) drips, five syringes, two sample bottles, one roll of plaster, six bottles of vaccines and a cash amounting to GH¢8,500 have been retrieved from the suspect.

 

 

 

 

 

A search conducted at the premises led to the retrieval of a number of medical items in his possession, including:
• Two (2) stethoscopes
• Three (3) intravenous (IV) drips
• Five (5) syringes
• Two (2) sample bottles
• One (1) roll of plaster
• Six (6) bottles of vaccines
• One (1) Ghanaian passport
• Cash amounting to GH¢8,500.00

 

 

During interrogation, the suspect admitted to impersonating a doctor at the United Brain Hospital at Mallam, a suburb of Accra.

He also confessed to using his fake identity to engage women online, initiating intimate relationships with them and convincing them to part with money for fake travel arrangements to Europe.

The suspect is currently in police custody, assisting with the investigation, and will be put before the court.
