In a heartwarming display of community support, the chief of Akyem Adjobue in the Akyemansa District of the Eastern Region, Nana Owusu Akyenteng III, has donated essential educational materials to Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates in his community.
The donation, which included math sets, rulers, and pens, was made to pupils from three (3) basic schools, namely: Akyem Adjobue Presby JHS, Akyem Adjobue R/C JHS, and Akyem Adjobue GCD D/A JHS.
Aiding the Girl Child
In addition to the educational materials, the chief also donated sanitary pads to the female pupils in Primary Six (6) to JHS 3, recognizing the importance of menstrual hygiene and the challenges many young girls face in managing their periods while in school.
This thoughtful gesture is also expected to boost the confidence and comfort of the girl candidates as they prepare to sit for their exams.
Chief’s Speech
During the presentation of the items at a mini ceremony, Nana Owusu Akyenteng III urged parents and guardians to do their best to support their children with educational equipment.
He emphasized the importance of providing students with the necessary tools to succeed in their academic pursuits.
In particular, when female schoolchildren reach their menstrual cycles, he urged parents and guardians to make sure they have access to sanitary pads and other menstrual hygiene necessities.
“It is crucial that we support our children, especially the girl child, to ensure they have the best possible chance of succeeding in their education,” he said.
