Kumasi Asante Kotoko have released their new home kit for the 2021/2022 season which they call “???????Ɛ2021”.
The jersey is dotted with Adinkra symbols, which are meant to depict the rich culture of the Ashanti Kingdom.
Adinkra symbols have decorative functions but also represent objects that encapsulate evocative messages that convey traditional wisdom and aspects of life.
The jersey is the second made by Kotoko’s kit partners, Italian sports manufacturing company, Erreà for the Ghana Premier League giants.
Finishing as runners-up to arch-rivals, Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko will be hoping to make big strides and fight for yet another league trophy next season.
After the release, fans shared their views on the kit:
Critics were also quick to jump on the release and drew similarities between the new home kit and the club’s third kit for last season.
The 2021–22 Ghana Premier League will be the 66th season of top professional association football league in Ghana and will commence on 29 October 2021.
