The Ashanti Regional Branch of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has expressed profound sorrow following the death of Akwasi Owusu Achiaw, a beloved news anchor with OTEC 102.9 FM. Achiaw passed away on Friday, 26 December 2025 after a brief illness.
In a statement, Ashanti Regional Chairman of the GJA, Kofi Adu Domfeh, extended heartfelt condolences to Achiaw’s family, his colleagues at OTEC 102.9 FM, and the wider media community. “May his soul rest in perfect peace, and may God grant comfort and strength to all who mourn his loss,” the message read.
Achiaw was known for his dedication to journalism and his warm presence on air.
His passing has left a void in the broadcasting fraternity, and tributes are expected to pour in from listeners, peers, and industry leaders alike.
