Dr. Gideon Boako, Economic advisor and Spokesperson for the Vice President, Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, has reiterated that, President Nana Akufo- Addo is borrowing positively to develop the Country.

According to him, if the NDC Party are saying Nana Addo has borrowed a lot then any other president in the fourth republic it is never true.

Dr. Gideon Boako added that looking at the level of borrowing under Nana Addo is very low if compared to what the former president John Mahana and its NDC did.

“The  key for us in borrowing money is that we borrow money to create assets that will allow us to pay the money back. That is the key…If we borrow the money and use it properly it is an asset for us in expanding our economy and infrastructure and that is what NPP government led by Akufo-Addo is doing now.”

Speaking to Kwame Nkruma Tikese on Okay FM, he averred that, Ghana’s infrastructural development are mostly based on the taxes that the government is collecting though Ghanaians are hard working and have the will to pay taxes but the system are preventing some majority of Ghanaians who are willing to pay taxes for development in the country.

He said due to the informality in the system, there are few people captured in the tax blanket.
