Video: Vice President ‘Lies Down Flat On The Ground’ To Pay Homage To Yagbonwura

The Vice President and the Flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has paid a courtesy call on Yagbonwura Bi-kunuto Jewu Soale, the Overlord of the Gonja Traditional Area, at Damongo.
This visit comes ahead of his engagement with Imams, Clergy, the Savannah Region House of Chiefs, and the youth of the region today, May 15.

In November last year, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia captured attention when he prostrated before the Yagbonwura during his visit to the Overlord of Gonja in Damongo, a gesture deeply rooted in Gonja tradition as the highest form of respect to the Overlord.

Currently back in the Savannah Region for his nationwide community engagement, Dr. Bawumia paid a visit to the Yagbonwura on Wednesday morning.

He honoured the traditional protocol by prostrating once again in greeting.

Accompanied by the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources and the MP for Damongo, Abu Jinapor, Dr. Bawumia lay prostrate for nearly a minute before rising to warmly greet the Yagbonwura.”
