President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo’s Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) nominee for Birim Central Assembly in the Eastern Region, Madam Victoria Adu , could not secure the requisite two-thirds majority votes by the local assembly to be confirmed.
At an election held on Monday, October 4, 2021, she polled 14 out of the total 26 votes cast.
Two ballots were rejected whiles 10 voted against her.
The election was observed by key persons including the Eastern Regional Minister, Seth Kwame Acharmpong, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Alexander Akwasi Acquah and other party executives.
The Electoral Commissioner announcing the results explained that since the nominee polled over 50% of the total votes cast, there will be a second round of the voting within 10 days after the first voting.
