Edward Michael Ennin, the former member of parliament for Obuasi East, has predicted disaster for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) by charging that the party’s leadership and its appointments in government are too corrupt.
He explained the magnitude of corruption within the government and calculated attempts by the party leadership to sabotage and force Alan Kyerematen to quit has put the party in a bad light.
Mr Ennin, who served as MP in the Fifth, Sixth, and Seventh Parliaments of the Fourth Republic of Ghana on the ticket of the NPP, says he wouldn’t have joined the party some decades ago if its leadership was corrupt as the current crop.
“This is not the party which my late father who was a founding member of the National Liberation Movement birthed with their toil, blood and struggled at the mercy of Dr Kwame Nkrumah who was then persecuting all NLM leaders and members,” he bemoaned.
While registering his displeasure on Akoma FM’s current affairs and political show GhanAkoma on Monday, October 2, the former lawmaker for Obuasi East told the host of the show Aduanaba Kofi Asante Ennin that “there were calculated attempts and plans that were enrolled during the Super Delegates Conference”.
“The move was to force all ministers, DCEs and other government appointees to vote for Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
“They will threaten you that the ballot papers are serialized so we can know who vote for who and we will come after you. So all these strategies to keep Dr. Bawumia ahead of others is making the party unattractive to the youth and the floating voters.”
According to Mr. Ennin, the NPP is collapsing and its about time brave men speak up before it is too late.
He urged the youth and the entire grassroots to stand up for the truth and speak up without fear or favour.
