This was at the CPP’s presidential primary held in all 16 regions nationwide on Wednesday, September 4, 2024.

Nana Frimpomaa contested the race with legal practitioner, Yaw Anokye Frimpong.

At the end of the polls, the total votes cast were 1,360.

Out of that, Yaw Anokye Frimpong had 586 while Ms Kumankumah garnered 763.

Rejected ballots were 11. The CPP held the primary today.

Addressing the media after her election, she said “Once one person has won and especially when it is so decisive we only need to have unity moving forward.

Nana Frimpomaa Kumankumah called for unity to ensure success in the 2024 general elections.

“In every election, one person will emerge as the winner, and it is essential for everyone to stand together to ensure unity and cohesion,” she stated. “I thank all who voted for me and even those who did not. My win was decisive and represents the voice of the masses.”

However, her opponent, Nana Yaw Frimpong, who secured 586 votes, refused to congratulate her.

He alleged that the election was marred by vote-buying. “How can I congratulate someone when the election was not free and fair? I have spent three years campaigning across the country, only to see someone who allegedly bought votes win the election. I believe I am the chosen candidate, but the people were influenced to vote against me with payments of 1,000 to 1,200 Cedis,” Frimpong claimed.

In response, Nana Frimpomaa Kumankumah emphasized that her focus is on winning power from the NPP and NDC in the upcoming general elections.
