A little girl has been burnt to death in a fire disaster at Akyem Gyadem Zongo near Akyem Oda in the Birim Central Municipality of the Eastern region.

According to reports, A woman called Ama Hemah was in room with her two children, a boy and a girl and a fire started burning from the ceilings of the room at 12:30am midnight.
Ama Hemah was able to save herself and her 4 year old boy called Yaw Pinkrah, but unfortunately her 10 year old little girl Hannah was trapped by the fire and lost her life .

No photo description available.

The 10-year-old girl was in bed with her mother and a four-year-old brother at the time of the disaster.

Jolted out of sleep by the inferno, the mother was able to save the little boy and herself.

Her distress screams brought neighbours to her aid but little could be done to save the 10-year-old girl.

The locals teamed up with the fire service to quench the flames after which the charred body of the victim was retrieved and deposited at the morgue.

An electrical fault is suspected to have been the cause of the fire.
