Two persons have drowned in a river at Aduoamoa Community in Kwahu East District of the Eastern Region.
The incident occurred Saturday, March 27, 2021, in River Aloo lying opposite Omari Serwaa Hotel in the Aduamoa community.
The bodies of the two victims – Ernest Antwi, a 40-year-old mobile phone credit distributor, and a 14-year-old boy have been retrieved and deposited at the Atibie Government Hospital morgue.
According to some residents Ernest Antwi went to the riverside to wash his car but noticed that the 14-year-old boy was drawing which he quickly rushed in an attempt to save him however, both drowned in the river.
Their bodies were later discovered and retrieved at about 10:00pm on a fateful day by the residents.
Assembly Member for the area, Osei Bonsu stated that four residents have drowned in the river since the year 2015. He, therefore, indicated that measures will be taken to curb future incidents.
