The Senior lecturer at the Department of History at the University of Education, Winneba, Eric Sakyi Nketiah says he is ever ready for the upcoming presidential primaries of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) this year.
He said as the party looks for a new leader to succeed President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, he is the best person to lead the party to that historic third consecutive victory in the general election.
Mr. Eric Sakye Nketiah – “#ESN” who was speaking in a press conference held at his residence in Akyem Swedru in the Birim South district of Eastern region said that he has good intention for contesting to become the president of Ghana on the ticket of NPP to continue the good work and policies of His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo because he is of the hope that NPP will surely break the eight and he is a very competent person to takeover from the incumbent president [Nana Addo] in 2025.
“I have what it takes. I strongly believe I have the experience, I have the capacity, I have the humility, I have the sense of service to serve the people of Ghana”, he said.
New leadership style
The flag bearer hopeful, noted that what he is bringing on board is a new leadership style that was committed to transparency, decisiveness and inclusiveness.
Interest
He said all the flag bearer aspirants who had expressed their interest had the capacity to do what they intended to do but he was presenting himself as a unique person who had worked with the people in the trenches to build the party to this far.
Mr. Eric Sakyi Nketiah said his training in Researching gave him that edge to solve the problems of this country such as unemployment, underemployment, underinvestment in infrastructure and adding that he had the ability to manage the fiscals of the economy.
He divulged that he will be much focused on areas like agriculture development, quality education for Ghanaian children, private business empowerment, corruption fight to the minimum, industrialization, foreign trade (more export, less import), among other important policies that he hope to bring onboard to rescue the nation from hardship and for its development.
He stated that his first priority policy would be on agriculture which supposed to be the engine to the growth of the nation but hasn’t gotten the much needed attention and it is one of the main reasons why there is huge number of unemployment of people in the country hence he is poised to strengthen the agriculture sector for the betterment of the country.
Unifier
Mr Eric Nketia said he had what could bring everybody on board and not tear the party apart.
He is well-known as a unifier within the NPP, a man who inspires hope.
He described himself as a unifier and someone who had empathy for the members of his party and the nation as a whole and would ensure their welfare and well-being.
“Generally, I feel that I have displayed to the party many a time that I am accessible, that I understand the issues, that I know the party well and have served long enough to know the people inside this party and I think that it is one of the things people feel comfortable about me,” he noted.
Appeal to NPP Delegates and Supporters
He further appealed to all NPP party delegates and executives to entrust him by voting to elect him to lead the party to victory come 2024 general election and therefore believe that he is the sole aspirant to win power for the New Patriotic Party to break the eight as has been the party’s aim towards 2024 election.
