GFA President Admits Coaching And Officiating Are Ghana Football’s Biggest Problems

The President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, has admitted that coaching and refereeing are the biggest problems of Ghana football.

He said this at the ongoing 29th GFA Ordinary Congress held at the Great Hall of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi.

Since Kurt Okraku’s administration came into office in 2019, the Black Stars have seen five coaches take charge of the national team in less than four years.

With refereeing, there have been many complaints and suspension of officials in the local leagues in the past three seasons.

However, the GFA President revealed they are comitted to solving these problems, notably urging ex-players to get involved in coach as they will get a 50% waiver on fees when enrolling onto coaching courses.

“I have already said that the biggest problems facing our game are coaching and refereeing. We have big coaching problems in Ghana,” he said.

“But we are committed to fix this problem. Most importantly, we want to encourage our heroes, our ex-national team players, to be interested in coaching.

“[There] will be a 50% discount on all payments relating to the acquisition of coaching licenses by our ex-national team players.

“The solution to our football problems is not to forge documents and defame people. If you are interested in leading football, then speak football.”
