Ghana Mourns Queen Elizabeth II For One Week Starting Today – Akufo-Addo Directs

President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has directed that all National flags fly at half mast for 7 days following the passing on of the British Monarch, Queen Elizabeth II.

 

In honour of her memory, I have directed that all official flags in the nation fly at half-mast for seven (7) days, as from tomorrow, Friday, 9th September. 6/7

The President noted the gesture is to honour the memory of the longest serving Monarch of the Great Britain and then Head of the Commonwealth, the Organisation of which Ghana is a proud member.

The observance is to take effect today, Friday, September 9, 2022.

This follows an extension of his condolences to King Charles III, her successor, on behalf of the government and people of Ghana.

The President further extended his condolences to the entire Royal Family, the Prime Minister and the government and people of the Great Britain.
