The leadership of the GhanaPay Subscribers of the National Service Personnel Association of Ghana has stated that if the government fails to release their salary, they may be compelled to embark on actions that will cause industrial disturbances .
The Association has given the government up to Monday, July 22, 2024, to pay the arrears owed its members.
According to the Association, the government has reneged on its promise to settle the debt on Friday, July 19.
In a press statement obtained by MyGhanaMedia.com, the association stated, “We were explicitly promised that our three-month salary payments would be processed by Friday, July 19, 2024, upon the previous failed promises from the scheme to us. This promise has been blatantly ignored.”
They claims their monthly salary have been delayed while other personnel have been paid, except for GhanaPay subscribers.
They expressed frustration over the disparity in treatment, noting that although they work alongside other service personnel, they have not received their payments.
Due to the nonpayment of their allowances, the personnel say they are struggling to pay for accommodation and utility bills.
They emphasised that as a unique workforce in the state, they deserve equal treatment and prompt payment of their salary.
