Govt Still Owes GH₵14 Million Of Covid-19 Free Water – CWSA

The Community Water and Sanitation Agency says the government has not yet reimbursed the cost of providing free water during the Covid-19 era, which is 14 million.

Under the community management policy, funds in the sum of GHS.37 million were allocated for water systems.

 

The Metropolitan Municipal and District Assemblies received GH22 million from the government for distribution to the water systems under their control.

 

Speaking at the Public Accounts Committee sittings, the Chief Executive Officer of the Community Water and Sanitation Agency, Worlanyo Siabi, said there is an outstanding debt of GH₵14 million.

 

“As at the end of December 2022, the government released GH¢22 million which were disbursed to all the MMDAs…so far the government is left with only GH₵14 million outstanding to pay.”

 

Meanwhile, the management of the Kintampo water system is lamenting the high debt that state institutions have accrued to the company, which totals GHS.368,000.
