Latest pronouncement by the Minister of Food and Agriculture reveals a plan by government in carting food produce from farming communities to major market centres across the country.

The intended plan appears to control food inflation in the country.

The Agric. Minister, Dr. Owusu-Afriyie Akoto was speaking to farmers in the Western Region Wednesday, November 2, 2022, when he made the revelation.

According to the minister, an inter-ministerial committee is working to ensure this becomes a reality.

“This inter-ministerial committee has been discussing with traders at the market and the ministry of transport is supposed to be arranging with transporters to come into these areas to be pick foods to specific areas.

“But from this discussion, the ministry itself is also going to take our own initiative. We are going to link up with the farm gates so that we make all the arrangements to ensure that we put up kiosks on our compounds from the ministry specifically for food from here and we are going to ensure that we give it a lot of publicity so that everybody knows that this region is providing food for people in Accra,” he disclosed.
