HeFRA Shuts Down Unlicensed Health Facilities In Ashanti Region

The Health Facilities Regulatory Agency (HeFRA) has intensified its nationwide enforcement exercise, closing down several unlicensed health facilities in the Ashanti Region.

Among the affected facilities are ANKHOR Diagnostics and RASHBILL Eyecare, both located within the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital premises.

The closures have left some patients stranded as officials continue inspections to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

This operation follows the recent shutdown of 17 health facilities across the country for operating with expired licences or under unsafe conditions deemed unfit for healthcare delivery.

According to HeFRA, the exercise is part of a broader effort to eliminate unaccredited facilities and enforce strict adherence to licensing and operational requirements.

Speaking to the media, HeFRA’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Winfred Baah, said the move was necessary to protect public health and ensure that only qualified and compliant healthcare providers operate within Ghana’s medical system
