In a historic upset, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has broken the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 24-year hold on the Assin Central parliamentary seat. NDC’s parliamentary candidate, Nurien Shaibu Migyimah, emerged victorious in the polls.
Kennedy Agyapong, the long-serving MP, opted not to contest the election, paving the way for a new representative. However, the NPP’s candidate, Gofred Nti Anewu, was unable to retain the seat for the ruling party.
This significant win marks a shift in the constituency’s political landscape, with the NDC reclaiming the seat after nearly two and a half decades.
