Inspector General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno has reassigned 84 senior police officers across the country, with some moved from the Police Headquarters to outstations and vice versa.
Among those affected are Superintendent Emmanuel Eric Gyebi and Superintendent George Lysander Asare, who have been posted to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters and the Judicial Protection Unit, respectively.
The two officers were implicated in the controversial leaked tape that detailed a plot to remove former IGP Dr George Akuffo Dampare.
They later appeared before the parliamentary committee investigating the matter to respond to concerns about their professionalism and adherence to Police Service regulations. The committee subsequently recommended disciplinary action against them.
Sources within the Police Service indicate that some perceive the postings of Gyebi and Asare as promotions rather than punitive measures, raising concerns about the precedent it sets.
Meanwhile, COP George Alex Mensah, who played a central role in the controversy, has since retired from the Police Service.
