The Four family of Danchira in the Greater Accra Region have called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Attorney General and Chief Justice, to intervene swiftly and decisively in a Human Rights Court ruling that aims to take what is rightfully theirs before tensions escalate further.
The family critiqued in the petition the ongoing dispute over Danchira lands that exists between them and J. F.K.A. Company Limited and Nii Tackie Amoah Vi.
The petition states that the Danchira land belongs to FOUR FAMILY together with three other families, which constitute a composite family of four who jointly own the land.
Additionally, it stated that the four composite families (FOUR FAMILY) had owned and occupied the Danchira lands for all of recorded time. They had also exercised their exclusive rights to possession and ownership by farming the land and granting portions to various grantees.
It further assert that, as a sign of their superior right of possession and ownership of the land, the FOUR FAMILY and their grantees worship a number of Shirins that are positioned throughout the property.
However, Nii Tackie Amoah Vi and F.K.A. Company Limited intend to use all means to wrest the land from them (FOUR FAMILY).
The Four family were acknowledged as the land’s owners following the Supreme Court’s 2016 ruling, which they asserted was the result of a lawsuit filed by Nii Tackie Amoah Vi and J.F.K.A. Company Limited against them.
But Nii Tackie Amoah Vi and J.F.K.A. Company Limited refused to accept the Supreme Court’s ruling, and they then went for appeal and lost the case again.
Therefore, the Four Family has prevailed in all of its legal battles, that were fought in the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal.
Despite, Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal ruling, Nii Tackie Amoah Vi and J.F.K.A. Company Limited has taken the same case to human rights court.
Furthermore, the FOUR FAMILY is unhappy about information that seems to be pointing to an overruling by the human rights court against them.
The family went on to say they would keep using the legal system to corporately prevent their lands.
The family claims that they do not wish to use violent means to reclaim their lands, and they are requesting that the Attorney General, Chief Justice, and President of the Republic of Ghana intervene and settle the dispute.
Below are the documents of the Supreme Court and Appeal Court ruling.
