Jachie-Pramso SHS Celebrates Academic Excellence, Seeks Help To Complete Stalled Projects

The Headmaster of Jachie-Pramso Senior High School, Benjamin Kye-Ampadu, says discipline has been the hallmark of the school, which culminated into high academic performance.

Addressing the school’s 55th Anniversary Speech and Prize Giving Day at Bosomtwe in the Ashanti region, he said students are constantly monitored and offered counseling to ensure they stay focused in academics.

“Discipline plays a vital role in shaping students’ success. To foster a conducive learning environment, our school has set up a disciplinary committee and counseling unit. These teams work tirelessly to monitor and guide students, ensuring they stay on track and avoid misbehavior, particularly while on campus,” he said.

“We have taken note of disturbing trends in some schools where students have been known to bring in firearms, and we are redoubling our efforts to prevent such dangers here. We aim to nurture responsible individuals who will make a positive impact”.

Mr. Kye-Ampadu, however, said that despite the successes attained in academic and competitive pursuits, the institution faces numerous challenges requiring urgent attention to sustain its momentum and continue delivering quality education to its students.

He revealed that the school is currently undertaking several key infrastructure projects, including the construction of an administration block, assembly hall, and dining hall, which are all nearing completion – with some projects as far as 80% done, but unfortunately, stalled.

He also highlighted the pressing need for additional toilet facilities to improve sanitation standards within the school.

In light of these challenges, he made an urgent appeal to the government, educational stakeholders, and philanthropists to come to the school’s aid, emphasizing that their support would go a long way in helping the institution overcome these hurdles and ensure a better learning environment for its students.

The District Chief Executive for Bosomtwe, Hamid Abdullah, responded to the Headmaster’s appeal by promising to take steps to ensure most, if not all, of the projects are completed under the government’s legacy initiative.

Meanwhile, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, former Education Minister and MP for Bosomtwe, urged parents to counsel their kids to respect, follow teachers’ instructions and prioritize studies.

He believes this will inspire the students to work hard and achieve success in the future.

As an old boy of Jachie-Pramso SHS, Dr. Adutwum encouraged students to leverage the available resources and facilities to boost their learning.

The Jachie-Pramso Senior High School has held its 55th anniversary Speech and Prize Giving Day under the theme “Empowering the Youth for the Future: The Role of Stakeholders” solely sponsored by the school’s old students.

The event highlighted academic excellence, honored outstanding teachers, non-teaching staff, and students, and included a homecoming for alumni.

Prominent figures graced the occasion, including Baffour Kwaku Amoateng IV, Chief of Jachie and Otumfuo’s Akyeame Panyin, Nana Gyampon-Tuah II, Chief of Pramso, Right Reverend Stephen Kwaku Owusu, Kumasi Diocesan Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, and Prof. Joseph Oteng-Agyei, Board Chairman of GNPC, along with other senior government officials.

Speaking at the function, the Ashanti Regional Director of Education, Dr. William Amankra Appiah, commended the management of the school for upholding high moral and academic standards over the years, resulting in the production of quality human resources for the country.

He said the SHS education is aimed at ensuring holistic learning which would prepare the youth academically, morally and for the world of work to enable them become entrepreneurs.

He also called on stakeholders to cooperate and support school management board to ensure effective running of the institution.
