Majority Leader and Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu has denied allegations of being party to a scheme to forcibly make Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia the flagbearer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Mr Osei-Kyei Mensah Bonsu noted that the voice aired on Kumasi-based Sompa FM and attributed to him is not his and the contents of the clip can therefore be his utterances.
In a press release, dated September 9, 2023, and signed Mr Osei-Kyei Mensah Bonsu himself, he categorically denied the contents of the audio and enjoined all NPP faithful to disregard the audio and treat it with the contempt it deserves.
“Accordingly, I entreat the President, HE Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the Vice President HE Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the former General Secretary John Boadu, and all NPP faithful to treat the said audio clip and its contents with the contempt that it deserves and consign it to the garbage can where it properly belongs,” he wrote.
He also demanded a retraction and an apology from Sompa FM, warning that if the media house does not do so within 48, he would advise himself.
