Manhyia South NPP Parliamentary Primary: 5 Pick Forms To Replace NAPO In Parliament

Five members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti region have picked nomination forms to contest for the party’s parliamentary primary scheduled for Sunday 14th July 2024 in Kumasi.

This follows the appointment of Manhyia South Constituency Member of Parliament Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as the running mate to Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia in line with the party’s constitution.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) today Monday, July 8, opened nominations for interested members of the party in good standing in the Manhyia South Constituency to pick nomination forms and file on 9th July 2024.

On the first day of the nomination opening, the five aspirants—Nana Owusu Afriyie Prempeh, a brother of Napo; lawyer Nana Agyei Baffour; James Boakye; Mr. Kwasi Koka Gyambibi; and Kwabena Amankwa Antwi—picked their nomination forms.

Some prospective candidates sent their supporters to pick the forms on their behalf while some others picked their forms in person.

The vetting according to the party will be held on Wednesday 10th, 2024 while voting for a new parliamentary candidate will be held on Sunday 14th July 2024.

The statement further said that an aspiring parliamentary candidate shall procure a nomination form after the payment of a non-refundable application fee of GH₵3,000.00.

Additionally, the NPP said women, youth and persons with disabilities (PWDs) will receive a 50 per cent rebate on the filing fees.

“This means they will be required to pay a non-refundable filing fee of seventeen thousand and five hundred Ghana cedis (GH₵17,500.00),” the party added.
