Maternal, Newborn, Child Health and Nutrition (MNCH) Conference held in Kumasi.

The Ashanti Regional Health Directorate with support from UNICEF has held stakeholders review meeting on Maternal, Newborn, Child Health and Nutrition (MNCH) activities, on Friday 10th December, 2021, to map out strategies to reduce inconsistencies in health service delivery and add up Universal Health Coverage by ensuring accountability.

 

 

 

The Health Directorate and UNICEF main focus is to help save the lives of mothers, newborn and children and to give them good nutrition and address preventable stillbirths by supporting high-quality, evidence based, equitable and low-cost care and service before, during and after birth at various health facilities in the region.

 

 

 

 

This stakeholders review meeting is seek to create a platform to increase partnership involvement and knowledge sharing among the 43 districts in the Ashanti Region.

The Deputy Ashanti Regional Health Director in charge of Public Health, Dr. Michael Rockson Adjei in his address encouraged Health Promotion Officers and Stakeholders present to continue with their demand creation for MNCH activities during this festive season and also continue to create public awareness on the need for people to go for the COVID-19 vaccination at their nearest vaccination sites.

 

 

 

 

 

The UNICEF representative, Charity Nikoi, Communication for Development (C4D) Officer, also asserted that UNICEF is committed to addressing the needs of mothers, newborns and children, and ensuring that they have access affordable, quality healthcare and good nutrition.

She added that, UNICEF, will continue to work close with Government of Ghana, partners and communities to combat common infectious childhood diseases and end preventable maternal, newborn and child death.

Charity Nikoi again promised that, they will continue to help Ghana especially those in the Ashanti Region to reach more children and women and especially most vulnerable, with essential health services.
