May 2nd, 3rd Declared Public Holiday

Tuesday, 3 May 2022 has been declared a statutory public holiday.

This is to mark Eid ul-Fitr, the end of Ramadan, the month-long dawn-to-sunset fasting by Muslims.

A statement issued by the Ministry for Interior and signed by sector minister Ambrose Dery on Monday, 25 April 2022 stressed that the holiday “should be observed as such throughout the country.”

The holiday will follow May Day (Workers’ Day), which falls on Sunday, 1 May.

Monday, 2 May has, therefore, been declared as an additional public holiday.
