The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) has said the power outage experienced in parts of Accra, Western, the middle and Northern parts of the country on Monday was as a result of disturbance in its power system.
A statement issued by GRIDCo on Tuesday (9 November) said power has been restored to affected areas across the country.
“At 19:50GMT on Monday, 8 November, 2021, the power system experienced a significant disturbance.
“All generating units at Aboadze Enclave and Bui tripped, resulting in a power outage in sections of Accra, the Western, Middle, and Northern parts of the country,” the statement said.
The statement added: “GRIDCo assures its valued stakeholders that it will continue to provide a stable power system for dependable and efficient power supply for national and economic growth.”
GRIDCo has since apologised to consumers for the inconvenience.

Tuesday, November 9, 2021 – At 19:50GMT on Monday, November 8, 2021, the power system experienced a significant disturbance.
All generating units at Aboadze Enclave and Bui tripped, resulting in a power outage in sections of Accra, the Western, Middle, and Northern parts of the country.
At 04:38GMT on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, generating units at Aboadze and Bui were restored, supplying electricity to all major Bulk Supply Points (BSPs).
At 04:50GMT on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, in the process of restoring the remaining BSPs, a second disturbance occurred, resulting in the loss of generating units at Aboadze Enclave and Bui.
This led to another interruption of electricity supply to several areas of Accra, the Western, Middle, and Northern parts of the country. ,
GRIDco in collaboration with its key stakeholders in the power supply chain, has restored power to all BSPs.
GRIDCo assures its valued stakeholders that it will continue to provide a stable power system for dependable and efficient power supply for national and economic growth.
