The Member of Parliament for Akim Swedru constituency , Hon Kennedy Osei Nyarko together with his district chief executive, Hon. Asare Danso on Thursday, 6th January 2022 commissioned and handed over an ultra-modern Akim Asawase Police post with bungalow to the Akim Oda Divisional police command.
The short ceremony organised saw many dignitaries, former MP for New Juaben South, Dr. Mark Assibey-Yeboah, traditional rulers and the general membership of the community attending as well as the top police hierarchy in the district.

Speaking at the ceremony to commission the police post, Hon Kennedy Osei Nyarko, Member of Parliament for Akim Swedru who double as parliament Committee chairman on Roads and Transport told the leaders of the community “One integral part to the development of any community or country is security, which the Cambridge English Dictionary defines as protection of a person, building, organization, or country against threats such as crime or attacks. We cannot leave this task to the government alone”.

According to him security has become the driving force in his reign as a lawmaker representing his people. Hon Kennedy Osei Nyarko thanked President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for providing logistics to the police services for effective policing to fight crime.
He added that the criminal issues in the area would be a thing of the past as the police are putting active measures in place to drive the criminals from the area.
“The construction of the police post is part of an effort to beef up security in theis area ,” he stated.

Hon Kennedy also said effective policing is a shared responsibility and that is the reason why citizen policing is being championed by the police administration as a means of promoting confidence and trust in the police.

The Akim Oda Divisional Police Commander, ACP Fleance Senam Adikah, thanked the MP and the Government for the facilities. He also used the occasion to sound a word of caution to individuals or any group of persons intending to foment insecurity in the area to desist from such plans.
ACP Fleance Senam Adikah warned those who normally launch reckless attacks on police stations and police personnel not to dare since the police Administration will not tolerate such unwarranted behaviours.

The Akim Swedru District Police Commander, ACP Phlilp Nketiah in his welcome address said the District command under his leadership has put in place a number of security measures to curb the menace and again urged all officers posted to the station to keep the edifice clean and well maintained at all times.
The District Chief Executive officer (DCE) for Birim South, Hon. Asare Danso also urged the police to put the facility into good use to combat crime.
Mr. Asare Danso hailed the local police officers for ensuring peace in the region and appealed to residents to continue supporting security apparatus by volunteering vital information on any suspects in their midst.

The Akim Awisa Krontehene, Nana Appiani Kwaframoah II, underscored the importance of the facilities and thanked the MP for the intervention and promised their support for the personnel posted to work with.

He urged police personnel who would be posted to the new station to be professional and not engage in acts that has the tendency to damage the reputation of the police service in the area.
