The National Health Students Association of Ghana (NAHSAG) has strongly condemned what they describe as an illegal attempt to manipulate the association’s leadership. Various student associations under NAHSAG have expressed disappointment in the 2022 administration’s actions, accusing them of undermining the democratic process by imposing their preferred candidates.
In an official statement, the presidents of these associations unequivocally dissociated themselves from the disputed election, reaffirming Ernest Agyare as the rightful president of NAHSAG. They urged their members to stand by him, highlighting his exemplary leadership and significant achievements.
The associations also pointed to a court ruling that explicitly barred the 2022 executives from conducting any elections, making their actions legally void. Despite this, the 2022 executives proceeded with an election involving only 20 students, where all candidates ran unopposed—an act seen as a blatant disregard for democratic principles.
Among the associations condemning the election are:
Federation of Ghana Medical Laboratory Students Association
Physician Assistants Students Association
University Nursing Students Association of Ghana
Federation of Ghana Medical Imaging Students Association
Ghana Association of Health Training Institutions
Federation of Ghana Medical Students Association
Pharmaceutical Sciences Federation Ghana
