NDC Accuses NPP Of Being Behind Dr. Duffuor Injunction Application

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is behind the injunction application against the conduct of the presidential and parliamentary primaries of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) filed by an aspirant Dr Kwaena Duffuor, the Director of Legal Affairs of the NDC, Abraham Amaliba has said.

Mr Amaliba indicated on the ‘Big Issue’ on TV3 Friday, May 12 that prior to the injunction application, a former Deputy General Secretary of the NPP, Nana Obiri Boahen had indicated that there was going to be a court case against the NDC.

Lo and beyond, he said, a court action has indeed been taken. In his view, this cannot be a coincidence.

“We know they are sponsoring these things. Nana Obiri Boahen said he foresees a court case, truly, it has come to pass. Is Nana Obiri Boahen a soothsayer?” Mr Amaliba said.

He further said all attempts to get the camp of Dr Kwabena Duffuor to sit around the table with officials of the party to resolve the issues raised against the conduct of the presidential primaries have failed.

He said invitations that have been extended to them have not been attended to.

“All attempts to get them to sit with us at the table have failed,” Amaliba said.

He added “The party is reaching out to you, is it a clear case of frustrating the party?”

But a member of the NPP’s Communications team Awal Mohammed refuted in the claim.

Awal said there was every indication, per the way and manner the executives of the NDC carried themselves, that court action was imminent.

“You didint even need anyone to tell you that this thing would go to court,” he said on the same show.

He further explained that the camp of Duffuor applied for the album for the elections but two weeks after the request, they had still not been given.

“The NDC national executives are to be blamed,” he said.

Dr. Kwabena Duffuor on Tuesday filed a suit against the party seeking to injunct the primaries.

But a statement issued by the General Secretary Fifi Kwetey said “While urging calm among our rank and file, we wish to assure that the party as at April 20th, 2023 had made available the full Delegates List to all presidential candidates in line with our commitment stated in our guidelines that, this Primary Document, would be furnished to all presidential candidates.

“The party is therefore confident that, this temporary challenge will be quickly overcome to pave way for the holding of the primaries on schedule.

“It is our expectation that we shall all put the larger interest of our great party ahead of all considerations, knowing that the good people of Ghana are eagerly looking up to our party, come December 7, 2024, to rescue this nation from the current national collapse.”
