Member of Parliament for Effiduase-Asokore, Hon. Dr. Nana Ayew Afriyie has said that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is behind the brouhaha of insecurity surrounding the December 7 General elections.
The prodigious lawmaker was responding to the NDC National Organizer Joshua Akamba, who claims Ghana has seen more crimes under the watch of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Government.
Pressure has been mounting following the December elections to elect a new leader to steer the affairs of Ghana between NPP and NDC. The two political parties are blaming each other for creating an atmosphere of insecurity ahead of the elections.
According to the Legislature, the NPP Government has done so well to check crimes within the four years than the opposition NDC.
In an exclusive interview with the incumbent Member of Parliament for Effiduase-Asokore, Hon. Dr. Nana Ayew Afriyie on Opemsuo 104.7 FM morning show, Nkwantannanso hosted by George Opoku Mensah (Agudey), described Joshua Akambi’s claims as loose talk.
“What Akamba said was a bit loose and nothing short of palpable lies because he cannot prove should he be invited to produce empirical evidence to back his claims that the NPP Government is behind all the recent happenings in Ghana.”
He continued that, “NDC members are deliberately manufacturing their own image of insecurity to instill fear in the people of Ghana ahead of the General election. NDC as a political party has a record of violence and whatever will happen between now and the election day should be put squarely at their door step.”
Ghana goes to the polls to elect a President and Members of Parliament in December 2020. It will be the country’s eighth successive general election since the resumption of multiparty democracy in 1992.
