NDC Flagbearership Race: Dr Kwabena Duffuor Picks No.3 Slot On The Ballot

A presidential aspirant of the Nation­al Democrat Congress (NDC), Dr. Kwabena Duffuor has picked number three (3) slot on the ballot paper to contest in the NDC flagbearer race come May 13, 2023, with a pledge to strengthen the grassroot supporters and members of the NDC which will be one of his main priorities when given the nod to lead the party.

 

The balloting was done by the leadership of the NDC in its Adabkaka headquarters in Accra on Wednesday March 29, 2024.

 

According to Dr. Duffuor who doubles as the former Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, there are pieces of evidences that the NDC needed formidable grassroots to make it strong, focused and formi­dable to capture power from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 general election.

 

In this sense, Dr. Duffuor stressed that looking at his track records and achievements, he believes is the best aspiring candidate who

has what it takes to build strong structures and foundations of the NDC which would help the party to win the 2024 general elections to fix a broken economy in the country.

 

He pointed out that in line with his vision to strengthen the grassroots of the NDC, the former Governor of Bank reiterated that he would ensure that the party had regional and constituency offices across the country.

 

According to him, there were clear indications which have showed that many Ghanaians are clamouring for the NDC to come back to political power and the party needs a leader like him who can unite and bring all the people who have sacrificed for the party together to clinch victory in the 2024 elections.

 

He reiterated his commitment to set up an effective pension fund to support and assist the mem­bers and supporters who have sacrificed for the NDC, especially the aged and the Ahotor project.

 

He noted that he initiated Ahotor project to support and assist the grassroots of the party will be strengthened and also the Heroes Fund established by the party to support and assist faithful and sympathisers of the party who have sacrificed for the NDC will be reactivated.

 

Dr Duffuor reaffirmed, when given the chance as President of Ghana, he would within two years address the macroeconomic challenges facing the country by initiating entrepreneurship pro­grammes to build the financial ca­pacity of members of the party.

 

There are many lessons to be learnt from our shared history and we cannot shirk that responsibility which destiny has entrusted upon us. My vision is to build a solid grassroot structures of the NDC with the capacity to position the NDC as a preferred party of choice poised to win 2024 general elections.

 

“We are a confident party and we know what we want. I, therefore, call on you to join me and create the refreshing change that we all yearn for. This is our call, and this is our time. Join me as I seek to become the next Presidential candidate of the NDC to ensure a party that is responsive to the needs of its members and fulfil the philosophy of the NDC whilst preparing to win the 2024 polls,” he stressed.
