The Lawra Municipality in the Upper West Region has been thrown into mourning following the death of its newly appointed Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Alhaji Adam Muazu.
Family sources confirmed that the MCE passed away in Accra after battling a protracted illness. He was sworn into office in April 2025.
This is coming barely two weeks after the Lawra Municipality was hit with a tragedy with the drowning of seven students in the Black Volta at Dikpe.
Since his appointment and confirmation in April this year, the new MCE has not been well and was yet to take office fully.
Before his appointment, he served as the first Propaganda Secretary (now Communications Officer) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Lawra Constituency and was a two-time successful parliamentary campaign coordinator for the current MP, Bede A. Ziedeng.
Professionally, Alhaji Muazu was a teacher and businessman. He was also the founder of Superteck Digital Studios, a multimedia company.
He was part of the final batch of the old secondary school system at Wa Secondary School, completing in 1994.
Alhaji Adam Muazu was 53 years old. He is survived by three wives and seven children.
His body is expected to be flown to Lawra via Wa today, Tuesday, June 24, and will be buried in accordance with Islamic tradition.
