NIA Condemns Corrupt Practices In Ghana Card Registration Processes

The National Identification Authority (NIA) has strongly condemned alleged corrupt practices by its staff during the Ghana Card registration process.

This follows allegations from applicants regarding misconduct by certain NIA employees.

In a statement dated March 18, 2025, the NIA labeled such behaviours as unlawful and unethical, assuring the public that all complaints would be thoroughly investigated, with appropriate legal actions to follow.

“Management wishes to inform the public that allegations have been made regarding certain staff members’ involvement in extortion and solicitation of unauthorized benefits and gifts from applicants seeking registration and related services. This behaviour is unlawful, unethical and a direct violation of public service principles,” the NIA condemned.

The NIA emphasized its commitment to maintaining public trust and ensuring that all applicants receive services in a fair, transparent, and ethical manner.

The Authority also urged the public to report any instances of misconduct, extortion, or unethical behaviour by its staff.

Management Condemns Corrupts Practices in Registration Processes

Management wishes to inform the public that allegations have been made regarding certain staff members’ involvement in extortion and solicitation of unauthorized benefits and gifts from applicants seeking registration and related services. This behavior is unlawful, unethical and a direct violation of public service principles.

Management assures the public that it is taking decisive steps to address this issue in accordance with the Human Resource Management Policy and Manual for the Ghana Public Services. The
following key measures are being enforced:

1. Zero tolerance for Corruption – Public officers are strictly prohibited from soliciting or accepting bribes, payments, gifts, favours, or any form of inducement from applicant or the public in exchange for the performance their official duties.

2. Fair and Transparent Service Delivery – Every applicant is entitled to receive services without undue influence, coercion, or exploitation. Staff members are required to adhere strictly to standard Operating Procedures (SoPs) and approved fee structures.

3. Strict Enforcement of Disciplinary Measures – Any staff member found engaging in extortion, unethical behaviour, or any unapproved conduct will face severe disciplinary action, including suspension, dismissal, and possible legal prosecution under the laws of Ghana. Management is committed to enforeing full enforcement of these measures.

Management urges the public to report any instances of misconduct, extortion, or unethical behaviour. All complaints will be thoroughly investigated, and appropriate legal action will be taken.

The trust of the public is paramount, and any attempt to exploit applicants or the general public for personal gain will not be tolerated. Management remains committed to ensuring that all
applicants receive service in a fair, transparent, and ethical manner.
