Water supply to residents in Akyem Oda, Akwatia, and other surrounded communities in the Eastern Region will be interrupted on Thursday following damage to the main transmission line of the Ghana Water Company Limited.
A huge rock has reportedly crushed the transmission line causing damage to the pipe as a result repair works will be carried out tomorrow.
A statement issued Wednesday, April 13, 2021, by the Public Relations Officer of the GWCL in Eastern Region Kojo Daase, stated that “Given a heavy stone falling off a rock, onto our main transmission line to the Asene reservoir, supply of potable water to residents of Akyem Oda, Akwatia and its environs will be disrupted from Thursday, 15/04/2021”.
The statement entreated “consumers to store enough water for use during the period of repairs and after. We hope to be on-site as soon as possible to carry out the repair work on the pipeline. Supply will be restored soon after the work.
The inconvenience this will cause is deeply regretted”.
