A Minerals Consultant Francis Owusu-Akyaw has been declared the winner of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) primaries in the Juaben Constituency.
He polled 334 of the total votes, defeating sitting MP and Deputy Communications Minister Ama Pomaa Boateng who secured 120 votes.
Ama Pomaa contested and won the parliamentary seat for the Juaben Constituency in the Ashanti Region during the 2016 Ghanaian general elections and was re-elected in 2020 polls.
The election which was supervised by the Electoral Commission was held at the Methodist School park on Saturday.
Speaking during his winner’s speech, Francis Owusu-Akyaw said he was thankful to everyone for the support given to him during this election.
He acknowledged that the journey to beating Ama Pomaa Boateng had not been easy.
He also pledged to unite the party to appreciate more votes for the party’s flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
