NPP’s Disciplinary Committee Postpones Adwoa Safo’s Hearing

The Disciplinary Committee of the New Patriotic Party has postponed its scheduled hearing for former Dome-Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo.

The Committee had earlier in a letter dated March 24 scheduled Adwoa Safo to appear for a hearing on Monday, April 7, 2025.

Her invitation was due to alleged violation of a directive barring party members from discussing matters that create disaffection within the party in the media.

However, in a letter dated Sunday, April 6, 2025, the Committee announced that the said hearing has formally been postponed.

This, the Committee said was necessitated by emerging scheduling adjustments and internal considerations.

The Committee said a new date and time will be rescheduled for the hearing and Adwoa Safo will be notified promptly.

“I bring you warm greetings from the national secretariat of the party. Further to our earlier correspondence dated March 24, 2025, with reference number NPP/HQ/GS/2025/24/03/DC, inviting you to appear before the Disciplinary Committee on Monday, April 7, 2025, we wish to notify you that the said hearing has formally been postponed,” the letter said.

The Committee expressed its appreciation for Adwoa Safo’s cooperation and reaffirmed the Party’s commitment to upholding the values of fairness, due process, and procedural integrity in all its deliberations.

Sarah Adwoa Safo was referred to the NPP’s disciplinary committee on March 20, 2025 for violating a directive barring members from discussing matters that create disaffection within the party in the media.

A statement issued by General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong said that following the directives issued to all members of the New Patriotic Party to cease discussions on matters that create disaffection within the party in the media, Sarah Adwoa Sarfo’s comments in the media, particularly on the Pulse Show of Joy News on March 20 are clear contravention of the directive issued to all NPP members.

“As she is aware, the directive explicitly states that all party members must cease discussing party issues that create unrest, negativism and disaffection in the media and other related platforms. Her actions are not only in disregard of this directive but also undermines the Party’s efforts to rebuild and move forward.

“As a former Member of Parliament, Former Deputy Majority Leader and Former Minister of State under the erstwhile NPP government, she was expected to set a good example and adhere to the principles of discipline, loyalty and unity that have always defined our great party. Her failure to do so, not only reflects poorly on her but also in contravention of Article 3(5) of the Party’s constitution, which, amongst others enjoins us to promote and defend the good name of the Party.

“In breach of the above provision of the Party’s constitution and the directives issued earlier, Hon Sarah Adwoa Sarfo is here by referred to the National Disciplinary Committee of the Party for further action,” Mr Frimpong wrote.
