The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has a rich political history in the Bongo Constituency and the Upper East Region, dating back to the 1990s. Although the party has not traditionally held a strong grip on the region, it has made significant inroads in recent years.

In the 1992 presidential election, the NPP’s candidate, John Kufour, garnered a mere 12.6% of the votes in the Upper East Region, with the majority going to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

However, the party’s fortunes improved in the 2000 elections, with the NPP winning two parliamentary seats in the region. In the 2004 elections, the party retained these seats and made gains in other constituencies. However, the NDC maintained its dominance in the region.

In the 2012 elections, the NPP’s presidential candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo, improved on the party’s performance in the region, garnering 24.4% of the votes. Madam Diana Aburiya, who is contesting again in 2024, polled 11,118 votes in the Bongo Constituency in 2012, a significant increase from the party previous results.

The NPP’s growth in the Upper East Region can be attributed to its commitment to development and grassroots engagement. The party has invested in infrastructure, healthcare, and education in the region, resonating with the people. The NPP’s agenda for the region includes:

– Enhancing agricultural productivity
– Improving access to healthcare and education
– Investing in infrastructure development
– Empowering women and youth

As the 2024 elections approach, the NPP is poised to make significant gains in the Upper East Region, with Madam Diana Aburiya’s candidacy in Bongo Constituency being a testament to the party’s growing strength. The party’s commitment to development and its connection with the grassroots signal a new era for the region and a potential shift in the political landscape.

The Bongo Constituency in the Upper East Region is on the cusp of a transformative era, as Madam Diana Aduko Aburiya Asuure, the NPP Parliamentary Candidate, is poised to make history by clinching the seat for the first time since 1992. With her proven track record and grassroots connection, Madam Aburiya’s victory is imminent, heralding a new era of development and progress for the constituency.

Having contested in 2012 and garnered 11,118 votes, Madam Aburiya has cemented her status as a household name and a force to reckon with. Her commitment to empowering women through skills training, prioritizing health, education, agriculture, employment, and road infrastructure, resonates deeply with the constituents.

Unlike her opponent, Madam Aburiya’s familiarity with the constituency is unparalleled, having lived and breathed Bongo’s challenges and aspirations. Her ability to identify and locate polling stations and electoral areas without assistance is a testament to her roots in the community.

The people of Bongo Constituency are ready for a leader who understands their needs and has the vision to deliver. Madam Diana Aduko Aburiya Asuure embodies that leadership, and her eventual victory will mark a significant milestone in the constituency’s journey towards progress and development.

Let us rally behind this worthy candidate and embrace the transformation that awaits us. The future is bright, and Madam Aburiya is the beacon of hope that Bongo Constituency needs.
