About 64 health workers in the Offinso North District of the Ashanti Region have been honored by the government for their various contributions to the country’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The presidential awards, initiated by President Akuffo Addo, acknowledges the exceptional role of frontline health workers who dedicated themselves to their work and rendered invaluable services during the pandemic.
The awardees included nurses, midwives, doctors, radiographers , pharmacist’s, nutrition officers, laboratory technicians, as well support staff such as drivers.
Each of the awardees was presented with a certificate of recognition signed by the President.
Presenting the awards on behalf of the President in Offinso North, the Deputy Minister for Local Government and Decentralization and Member of Parliament (MP) for Offinso North Hon. Augustine Collins Ntim, said the awards were a national honour to recognise the efforts of the frontline workers who risked their lives to save others.
While acknowledging the good works and dedication of these workers in health delivery, the Offinso North Director of Health Mr. Richard Avargu admonished them to remain professional in the discharge of their duties.
Thereafter, the health workers thanked the President for the kind gesture.
“We never thought a day like this will come for us to be honoured in this service. We are very much grateful”, they said.
